HIFU Facial Lifting and Tightening
Want to lift and tighten your skin?
HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is a non-invasive treatment that targets the single most common cause of visible ageing – collagen loss.
The skin firming treatment produces excellent results on mild amounts of skin laxity, stimulating collagen production in the skin’s foundation and resulting in a significant lift of tissue over the following 2-3 months.
This treatment requires no creams, toxins or dermal fillers.
What are the benefits?
Stimulation of collagen and elastin to tighten skin.
What is the downtime?
This treatment does not require any downtime. You may return to normal activities straight after your treatment.
Are there any possible side effects?
Mild swelling, redness and tenderness
How many treatments do I need for best results?
One treatment (maybe two in certain areas). Best results seen in 2-3 months.
Treatment protocol
Pre-treatment protocol
If treating the face, you will need to allow a minimum of 2 weeks following IPL skin rejuvenation, hair removal or superficial/highly superficial chemical peels (laser resurfacing or a medium depth chemical peel will require a minimum of 4 weeks) or until the skin has returned to normal.
We recommend that you avoid anti-inflammatories such as aspirin before the procedure. This will help reduce any bruising which may occur.
Avoid using any form of depilation in the area to be treated for a minimum of 3 days prior to the treatment e.g. waxing, threading etc.
Please note that it is advisable to notify your practitioner, with a minimum of 7 days’ notice prior to each treatment, if there are any changes to your health or medication.
Post-treatment protocol
It is common for the area to appear red and swollen or feel bruised and sensitised for several days, and on occasions several weeks, following treatment.
Avoid heating the treatment area while the skin is still sensitised. This includes physical activity, saunas, hot bath/shower, alcohol etc. and/or the application of further treatments.
Smoking will negate the effects of the HIFU treatment. Avoid smoking for the duration of the course of treatment.
Increase your intake of water and exclude all stimulants for the rest of the day/night, e.g. caffeinated beverages.
If treating the body, a healthy diet, combined with physical activity, is required for the treatment to be fully effective.
Avoid the application of any additional products to the area for a minimum of 48 hours. This includes cosmetics (unless mineral) and skin care products other than the professional products recommended to you by your practitioner.
Do not use a sun bed or apply self-tan on the area during the course of treatment.
Use SPF 50+ sunscreen daily and avoid exposure to UVA/UVB for the duration of the course of treatment.
