Cryolipolysis

Fed up of troublesome pockets of body fat?

A popular alternative to liposuction surgery, cryolipolysis (fat freezing) is a non-invasive, safe and effective treatment for the reduction of soft, stubborn areas of body fat such as stomach fat, love handles, bingo wings, and back fat.

It works by destroying a proportion of the fat cells in the area you want to target. Over the next few weeks, your body naturally eliminates these dead fat cells, revealing a redefined figure.

What are the benefits?

Fat freezing is clinically proven to destroy fat cells without the need for surgery. Treatments are quick, pain-free and there is no recovery time – in fact, most fat freezing treatments are complete within an hour. It is a convenient walk-in, walk-out procedure where we can treat multiple body areas in one session, keeping your clinic time to a minimum.

What is the downtime?

This treatment does not require any downtime. You may return to normal activities straight after your treatment.

Are there any possible side effects?

Temporary redness, surface bruising

How many treatments do I need for best results?

Results gradually become visible over the coming weeks, with best results being seen at around 8-12 weeks. For enhanced results, any area can be treated more than once after 8 weeks.

Treatment protocol

Pre-treatment protocol

Dry body brushing is recommended for a minimum of 7 days prior to the treatment and ongoing post treatment (once the skin is not compromised). This process will aid the removal of toxins.

If treating the face, you will need to allow a minimum of 2 weeks following IPL skin rejuvenation, hair removal or superficial/highly superficial chemical peels (laser resurfacing or a medium depth chemical peel will require a minimum of 4 weeks) or until the skin has returned to normal.

Drink a litre of water prior to the treatment.

We recommend that you avoid anti-inflammatories such as aspirin before the procedure. This will help reduce any bruising which may occur.

Wear loose-fitting clothes to avoid further irritation of the treatment area(s).

Avoid using any form of depilation in the area to be treated for a minimum of 3 days prior to the treatment, e.g. waxing, threading etc.

Please note that it is advisable to notify your practitioner, with a minimum of 7 days’ notice prior to each treatment, if there are any changes to your health or medication.

Post-treatment protocol

You should expect the area to feel numb for several hours, and on occasions several weeks, following treatment.

It is common for the area to appear red, swollen, bruised and sensitised for several days, and on rare occasions several weeks, following treatment. Cramping and aching are also common side effects. Arnica gel can be applied to aid the healing process.

Avoid heating the treatment area while the skin is still sensitised. This includes physical activity, saunas, hot bath/shower, alcohol etc. and/or the application of further treatments.

Increase your intake of water and exclude all stimulants for the rest of the day/night, e.g. caffeinated beverages.

A healthy diet, combined with physical activity, is required for the treatment to be fully effective.

Avoid the application of any additional products to the area for a minimum of 48 hours. This includes cosmetics (unless mineral) and skin care products other than the professional products recommended to you by your practitioner.
